An introduction to the Inspection of Concrete Buildings and Structures
All concrete deteriorates with time due primarily to the design, quality of construction and environmental conditions. It important to understand the deterioration processes which can occur in order to specify the correct repair procedures, techniques and methodology. There are a variety of NDT testing techniques now available to assist with the inspection of concrete structures and buildings.
This presentation, ‘An introduction to the Inspection of Concrete Buildings and Structures’, will cover the reasons for concrete deterioration and the methods of inspection which are currently available to determine the nature and extent of the deterioration. It will show how to specify and commission a concrete investigation to ensure sufficient information is obtained to enable a repair strategy to be formulated for the future management of the structure, as well as what to include in the specification and contract documents.
