Looking after our heritage

The maintenance of heritage and listed buildings and structures requires skilled management and operatives to ensure the work is undertaken in a sympathetic manner in-line with the conservation requirements. Often these buildings are complex and unique with a variety of deterioration challenges which need to be addressed during the refurbishment.

Building conservation and refurbishment can in many ways be more involved than new construction. The unique difficulties associated with working in and around office blocks, churches, schools and other premises (often occupied), calls for a fresh and innovative approach from an experienced specialist company. Our aim within CRL Restoration is to restore our Clients and the Nations’ heritage buildings utilising all the combined experience of our directly employed Managers and skilled operatives and our reliable supply chain.

We have a dedicated division, CRL Restoration, which can undertake the repair works as Principal Contractor or specialist sub-contractor. CRL Restoration offer a one stop shop for all your requirements in caring for your heritage building and structures. CRL work closely with our clients to help identify the nature and extent of any deterioration in the fabric of the building using our survey company, CRL Surveys Ltd (UKAS Accredited), and Structural Engineers, Buxton Associates. Once the nature and extent of any deterioration has been established, we can produce fully documented reports identifying any existing problems and offer assessments and recommendations on how the building should be restored, including Schedules of Defects and budget figures. If required, we can then help prepare the specification and scope of works together with initial budget costs.

CRL Restoration utilise in-house teams to undertake the works in accordance with the specification and recommendations. CRL are committed to working collaboratively with all the parties involved to value engineer the works, thereby coming up with the right solutions and making sure that the Clients expectations are met and the final works are as anticipated. CRL has extensive experience of working on listed buildings with all Heritage and Conservation Bodies, as well as Local Authorities. Each project is allocated a dedicated and experienced Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the project, assisted by our Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Team.

CRL Restoration recognise the importance of conserving our heritage and have a philosophy of sympathetic restoration using our 65 years’ of experience in the industry. The materials we use and the repair techniques are carefully selected to ensure minimal intervention yet at the same time prevent further deterioration.

CRL aim to constantly exceed our Clients expectations by completing all projects on time, within budget and to our Clients satisfaction.
