The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), a charity dedicated to safety for over a century, presents awards to organisations promoting safety in work, road, home, and leisure environments, in line with RoSPA’s vision of an accident-free world.
Concrete Repairs Ltd (CRL) is proud to announce that we have once again received the prestigious RoSPA Order of Distinction Award, marking our 27th consecutive RoSPA win and an outstanding 25 consecutive Gold Awards for health and safety excellence.
This remarkable achievement reflects our long-standing commitment to the highest standards of health, safety, and well-being across all our operations. It stands as a testament to the dedication of our people, who work tirelessly to ensure everyone whether it’s the staff, clients, contractors, or the public, goes home safely every day.
For over 69 years, the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, sponsored by NEBOSH, have recognised organisations across the globe for their dedication to accident prevention and health and safety excellence.
Organisations that earn RoSPA Awards not only demonstrate their commitment to saving lives and reducing injuries, but also join a legacy of safety leadership. These awards highlight the best practices in creating safe environments for employees and the communities they serve.
At the heart of this success is our Group Health and Safety Advisor, Nigel Roper, whose career and expertise have been instrumental in shaping CRL’s strong safety culture.
Nigel began his career in 1987 as a 16-year-old apprentice in Carpentry and Joinery. After completing a three-year indentured apprenticeship, he continued his education, earning National and Higher National Certificates in Building Management. He went on to work as a Sub-Agent and Site Manager on major construction projects, including schools, housing estates, flats, and car parks.
In 1999, Nigel transitioned into health and safety, undertaking further studies to become a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner. Since then, he has built a wealth of experience across housing, historic restoration, construction, and civil engineering. His passion for occupational health has led him to contribute evidence to a Parliamentary Group Enquiry and support the Society of Occupational Medicine in developing industry guidance.
We would also like to extend special thanks to Tommy Grierson, Health and Safety Manager at CRL Highways, for his consistent leadership and hands-on commitment to safety across our infrastructure projects.
As we celebrate our continued success, we also look to the future with the welcome addition of Sophie Thorneywork, who has recently joined CRL as a Health and Safety Apprentice. We look forward to support Sophie’s development as part of our next generation of safety leaders.
At CRL, safety is not just a priority, it’s a core value that defines how we operate. This 27th consecutive RoSPA Award reinforces our belief that excellence in health and safety is achieved through knowledge, leadership, and a culture of care.
We are proud of this legacy and even prouder of the people behind it. Here’s to another year of raising the bar in safety and continuing to lead by example.
