CRL Hosts Skills Taster Day with Building Heroes to Support Service Leavers

Concrete Repairs Limited (CRL) proudly continues its partnership with Building Heroes, delivering meaningful, hands-on experiences for those transitioning from military service into the construction industry. Most recently, our Mitcham office hosted a Skills Taster Day for the Wembley Academy June Cohort, offering a day of learning, networking, and inspiration.

The event provided attendees with direct insights into the sector, with engaging conversations led by CRL's Ben Hallett and Olu Ogunwale, who shared valuable knowledge about career pathways in the construction and infrastructure industries. Attendees also took part in interactive practical sessions run by Nigel Jeffery, CRL’s Operatives Training Supervisor, alongside Paul Rigby from Resapol.

Joining the event was Jermaine Etsiakoh, one of our newest Civil Engineering Apprentices, who experienced first-hand the value of Building Heroes’ initiatives and had the opportunity to connect with the next generation of potential recruits.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Paul Rigby for his ongoing support and for openly sharing his own journey from the armed forces to a civilian construction career, an experience that truly resonated with many on the day.

We’d also like to express our gratitude to VI Distribution Ltd, whose consistent donations of PPE and tools ensure that our attendees are fully equipped to explore their new career opportunities.

At CRL, we remain committed to supporting veterans and service leavers as they take their first steps into civilian employment. These events highlight the importance of hands-on experience, mentorship, and collaboration in building confidence and skill.

We are proud to stand with Building Heroes, and even prouder to help build the future, together.
