Carlton Pavillion New Arts Centre

CRL oversaw the installation of Sto glass Ventec panels on the Carlton Pavillion, a new arts centre by the seafront in Teignmouth.

The Ventec panels are a composite of toughened glass bonded to a carrier board, which is made out of 96% expanded glass granulate manufactured from recycled glass that is combined with epoxy resins at high temperature with the glass fibre mesh being laminated on both sides providing additional strength.

The original façade design was undertaken by Metsec and Sto with design checks undertaken by Buxton Associates (sister company of Concrete Repairs Ltd).

CRL constructed a Metsec steel framing system and cement particle board with high levels of insulation within the frame and also on the exterior face and the Sto substructure consisted of T brackets and rails using carrier profiles that clipped onto the Sto Graf rail. The Sto glass Ventec panels were then fixed to the Sto frame.

CRL used the Porcelanosa Krion cladding system for the soffit areas with a finish which matched the Ventec glass panels.

"An interesting project. The Ventec glass panels were difficult to get into position, but once up and secured they looked really good."
