Navigator Terminals Thames is the largest bulk liquid terminal in the UK by throughput volume. It is strategically located on the River Thames with its proximity to the M25 bringing the fuel, chemicals and bitumen markets of the Home Counties, London, and the Midlands within easy and cost effective reach. Bitumen and diesel is brought in by ship from both local and overseas markets and is stored in bulk tanks before being transferred around the country via road and rail. The original concrete jetty, which was built in the 70's has been extended over the years and has had additional pipelines installed to further increase the capacity of the terminal.

CRL Surveys undertook the initial condition survey in 2012 and since then Concrete Repairs Limited have been undertaking annual repair and maintenance works to the concrete jetty structure. The work will continue for a further 2-3 years.

Over the years CRL have been engaged to carry out the following works:

• • Provide information and support to obtain PLA, EA and MMO Licences for the works,
  • Design and erect complex suspended scaffold access,
  • Survey and agree scope of works,
  • Hydrodemolition to remove defective concrete & previous pile encasement,
  • Installation of new reinforcement (using resin fixings & proprietary connectors),
  • Grit blasting of steel,
  • Spray apply fast curing concrete to piles (in the tidal zone), and
  • Spray apply conventional concrete to soffit and beams.

CRL are now engaged in trials to inspect the condition of the concrete piles below river bed level using innovative air excavation methods and diving.
