Since 2019, Concrete Repairs Limited (CRL) has played a key delivery role on the Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project, contracted by the Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP). Working closely with BASF as the main waterproofing material supplier, CRL has delivered large-scale membrane and injection solutions across multiple precincts.

CRL has installed approximately:

·       100,000m² of bonded MasterSeal 730PA

·       30,000m² of unbonded MasterSeal 700BG

CRL’s scope has included not only waterproofing but also crack injection works, shear key detailing, and structural joint preparation. Additional membranes were also installed from suppliers including Bluey’s and Intrec (e.g. BluSeal PVC, BluSeal VLDPE, and Cosmofin LL). Liquid-applied membranes and torch-applied membranes (where specified) were also used across select zones.

Injection works primarily utilised MC Injekt GL 95 TX acrylic resin, suitable for high-performance water control and flexibility. In select areas, polyurethane injection was also applied depending on substrate and conditions.

Project Completion & Legacy

CRL’s involvement on the Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project is now nearing conclusion, with the majority of work packages completed across all precincts. While a small number of tasks remain at select CBD South locations, CRL’s primary scope is finished, and the team is in the process of demobilising from site.

Over several years, CRL delivered a wide range of critical waterproofing, injection, and structural detailing works that supported the successful construction of stations, portals, and tunnel infrastructure. The ability to deliver large-scale, high-quality membrane installations and specialised injection systems — while navigating complex urban environments — has cemented CRL’s role as a trusted delivery partner for major infrastructure projects.

As the Metro Tunnel prepares to open to the public, CRL is proud to have contributed to one of Victoria’s most significant and technically demanding transport infrastructure programs.
