CRL commenced work on the West Gate Tunnel Project (WGTP) in late 2023 after other contractors were unable to meet their contractual requirements. Since then, CRL has continued to deliver critical waterproofing and structural repair services across the project and is expected to remain engaged until project completion. CRL also has in-house capability to perform pull-off adhesion testing in accordance with VicRoads specifications, ensuring compliance and performance of bonded membranes and coatings.
CRL was initially engaged to install a Mapei multi-layer liquid waterproofing system on the Freeway Control Centre (FCC)Building. The success of these works led to further involvement across the project, including:
To date, CRL has completed approximately 13,535m² of torch-applied membrane across the North and South Portals of the tunnel and associated bridge structures.
In addition to waterproofing, CRL has completed significant structural epoxy crack injection works across various buildings and bridges. Cracks exceeding 0.2 mm were addressed in compliance with VicRoads repair standards. To ensure quality assurance and compliance, CRL uses Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) testing to verify the extent of epoxy resin penetration and confirm that cracks have been filled according to VicRoads specifications.
